Hello lovely Oppo peoples!
So I got this unbelievable flight deal to Abu Dhabi from JFK and went this past week. It was the trip of a lifetime! In the Dubai part of the trip, we stayed at the JW Marriott Marquis, which was great for supercar spotting. In the Abu Dhabi portion, we stayed at the Yas Riceroy hotel, which overlooks the F1 circuit on several corners. All of the restaurants have great views of the track. I believe this is the only hotel built in an F1 circuit. Staying here was such an incredible experience! They have shuttles that take you from the hotel to the track, to Ferrari world (see couple pics below). I explored all over!
Additionally and luckily for us, AMG was having an invite only event at the track so we sat outside at the hotel ate and drank (expensively), and watched AMG cars get track'd for 7+ hours!
See below for some pictures...Pardon the quality i'm working on my lack-of skills:
This is the view from the hotel room (Turn 19 I believe) :
The picture above is looking slightly to the right from my hotel room. This picture below is from the bottom.
Here is a picture of the Aston Martin Driving experience. Is 1600 AEDs (US conversion rate is .27).
I then took a shuttle to the track and walked around a bit...next couple pics are there:
All the Astons!
SAFETY CARS! Jalop Favorites!
Next we went to Ferrari world. They have some expensive merchandise but I couldn't resist buying a Ferrari tumbler.
Here are some pics from the AMG Driving experience. They had good drivers leading packs in Black SL65's and had basically every AMG car (including SUVs). They had an AMG GT pack, Sedan / Coupe Pack and an SUV, CLA & GLA Pack
Here is a little video! So sorry for the quality / shakiness.
The hotel / experience at Yas Marina was absolutely amazing. So much to do. The country as a whole is just fantastic. The cars you see in Dubai are unreal as well. Such a safe country and felt so welcomed. I will most certain be back (hopefully during race weekend!)
Below were a couple cars parked outside a hotel in Dubai. Thank you for your time!

Yeah it seemed steep but in hindsight if it wasn't sold out I most likely would have done it. I'll have to post a video of how unreal they sounded. Full race spec...unfortunately though you don't get to drive the full track which really bothered me.

I used to live in Dubai as a kid, before it exploded into the crazy city it now is.
I've been back there since then, but damn it I need to go again to check this out :D

It's crazy the expansion and growth they've had....and they're still building so much!

Yeah, its a crazy impulse driven economy.
I have friends in Dubai that went on a month long vacation. They came back to find a new overpass/bridge.
The smog there is actually mostly concrete blowing in the wind. You really cant see much on most days from the Burj Khalifa / any tall building for that reason.

My god it is amazing. I cannot wait to see this place! Planning on a trip for the Grand Prix in the fall.

Highly recommend it! There is so much to do. If you can book at the Viceroy, it's the way to go!

Interesting! We were wondering about that! Definitely didn't look like smog, almost like sand. I do recall seeing several concrete places when driving around.

I'll find and post pics I have from my last trip.
It was fun to go down memory lane. Turns out, they built a hotel across the apartment I used to live in as a kid. And thats where we stayed :) Also met childhood friends and stuff.

So I did get pictures that were clear but these are some that show how bad it is there.
For some reason, Kinja doesn't want to put all my pics the right side up.
This is back in 2011.
